The following organisations may be able to provide students who might be experiencing problems in their lives with specialist support and advice:

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Support

Sometimes people have trouble with their language, literacy (reading and writing) and numeracy skills, which is very common. Having trouble with these skills is nothing to be ashamed of. BMP conducts a mandatory LLN test during the enrolment process to identify the support needs of our students. We have a range of strategies to assist students who struggle with LLN skills, including but not limited to:

  • One-on-one tutoring
  • Writing assistance
  • Tailoring timetable
  • Written or verbal feedback on students’ draft responses
  • Flexible assessment methods

The following websites may help you find support for your LLN skills:

  • BBC skillwise You may find resources for developing English skills including reading, writing, spelling, speaking and listening.

Recognised difficulties in studying and learning

Where appropriate to the program students identified with recognised difficulties in studying and learning are to be scheduled with additional one-on-one support sessions with Academic Manager at regular intervals throughout the course program. The support needs will be identified through Trainer and Assessor’s feedback or Early Intervention process.

Students are advised to approach their trainers for assessment support, and Student Contact Officers for other support needs. Academic progress support services provided by BMP include:

  • Before-class workshop
  • Pre-scheduled academic skills workshops
  • Ad-hoc one-on-one academic support session
  • One-on-one academic consultation
